Why We Exist

Our Mission

Cornerstone exists to glorify God by making disciples who are devoted to Jesus Christ, his Great Commandments, and his Great Commission.

Our vision is a congregation that is Christ-centered, love-oriented, and missions-motivated.

By God's grace, we began in January 2026 as a church plant endorsed by Send Network of the North American Mission Board and sent by Hillcrest Baptist Church.

We strive to create a nurturing environment where individuals and families can thrive in their relationship with Jesus. Through worship, discipleship, and fellowship, we aim to make a lasting gospel impact in our local community.

Our Beliefs

Cornerstone is a confessionally Baptist congregation. We believe Scripture is God’s sufficient and authoritative revelation, and we gladly affirm faithful confessional summaries of biblical doctrine.

As a congregation in joyful cooperation with the Southern Baptist Convention, we affirm the historic Abstract of Principles as our official statement of faith, along with the Baptist Faith and Message. These confessional documents may be accessed using the links below.

Meet Our Pastor

Eric V. Mitchell

Lead Pastor

Pastor Eric Mitchell came to saving faith in Jesus Christ during college and soon sensed a call to pastoral ministry—particularly to preach God’s Word and shepherd God’s people.

He graduated from the University of Florida in 2008 and later pursued seminary training to serve the local church with clarity, conviction, and care. Pastor Eric also served on staff at Hillcrest Baptist Church, Cornerstone’s sending church.

Pastor Eric was ordained to the gospel ministry at Hillcrest in 2019. He earned a Master of Divinity in 2020 and a Master of Theology in 2025, both from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

Pastor Eric has served as the Lead Pastor of Cornerstone since its founding in January 2026. He and his wife, Crystal, have been married since 2012 and have two children, Xavier and Abigail.
